A member asked:

I have a hematoma on my lower lip after being intubated for a surgery 3 years ago. it remain purple blue with so brownish hues..hx of melanoma.

Hemosiderin: The purple blue color is due the deposition of iron released by the red cells in the hematoloma. You do not have a hematoma, just the residual iron released by the red cells. It may be a cosmetic issue but is not a health hazard. You may visit this site for info: https://www.healthline.com/health/hemosiderin-staining
