If she’s in pain: Go to ER. She may have a fecal impaction that may require digital removal. Don’t try this at home. Let a healthcare professional, who has experience with this condition, evaluate and treat your child. Also, find a pediatrician that doesn’t have a month long wait for a sick child.

For stubborn constipation in older children or adults, the doctor may recommend a non-digestible sugar called lactulose, Polyethylene glycol (MiraLAX) , Linaclotide , lubiprostone and Trulance can be used long term.
