“Counter force”: The usual brace for lateral epicondylitis (tennis elbow) is known as a counter force brace, of which there are multiple variations. It basically consists of a strap that is wrapped around the proximal forearm distal to the elbow. Tightening the brace takes the force of the wrist extensors off of the lateral epicondyle and more onto the brace, giving some rest to that area. Good question.
