Headache: Are you prone to frequent headaches? If not and this is a very severe headache I recommend being examined by a physician. Tension headache or migraine don't seem likely. Viral syndrome or sinus congestion or infection may be the cause. An excruciating sudden headache occurs with intracranial bleeding. Brain tumor less likely. A head ct scan or sinus studies may be ordered.

Multi Causes: Severe headache can be anything from too much stress to a brain tumor, aneurism or serious sinus infection. A thorough exam by a practitioner might need to include brain imaging (CT or MRI). Absence of serious cause often indicates inflammation due to ongoing environmental toxin exposure like black mold, virus infection, Lyme disease, chemicals.
