Uncertain It could b: This could be a staph infection the three months seems like a long time. The fact that it’s painful makes me consider that. You need to see your physician and get a checked out.

Infection: Although an infection is the most likely cause of what you describe, it has lasted longer than you would expect. Without seeing it, it would be hard to say exactly what it is. My recommendation would be to have this evaluated by your doctor. This was you can get it figured out and get appropriate treatment. Best of luck.
