Newborn Developmentl: Newborns may normally develop swelling around the nipples from a swollen gland. Baby’s One Month examination will allow medical provider to assess for normal development or not . If baby is fussy and has pain in the area or fever, call baby’s medical provider.

The basics: The hormones that the mother makes in pregnancy cross over the placenta but are removed the same way. When the cord is clamped, any remaining hormones may show effects later in both genders. Both may show transient soft breast enlargement that is usually both sides & centered under the nipple. Any offset lump may be an infection from germs entering breast ducts. If red/painful/draining go in now.
