Straight leg raise: In general, you want to strengthen the quadriceps with as little pressure on the patellafemoral joint and tibial tubercle as possible. forces in that area are maximized when knee is flexed. A physical therapist could take you through the complete program, but straight leg raises is one of the major components of it; strengthening the quads while minimizing force across tibial tubercle.
