Infection: If she has a urinary tract infection it should be treated with appropriate antibiotics. It can be diagnosed by a urinalysis, urine culture and colony count. The results of the culture take 24-48 hours, but if the physician is pretty sure it's a UTI, once the specimen is taken, antibiotics can then be started before results are ready. If the result shows no infection, the antibiotics can be stopped.
