A member asked:

Pregnant. ate meatballs that were well done &cooked fresh, but sat out at room temp 25-30 mins & were cold when i ate. listeria risk from this?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Food borne infection: Usually well cooked meats will not be infectious if left to cool for "25-30 minutes". There is always a chance that the bacteria might survive partially cooked foods, but symptoms of fever, diarrhea, nausea and vomiting are common symptoms, and will begin in 24-36 hours after infection. If pregnancy is a concern, see your physician as soon as possible if symptoms appear.
