I have asthma and have been diagnosed with costochondritis but no xray was done, dr prescribed massage oil & celebrex, but pain keeps returning?

Clinical label: Costochondritis is an inflammatory process in areas where the ribs join the breastbone. It will not show up on xray. A physical exam will expose areas involved as will the pattern of pain. It may arise after an illness and usually runs its course over a few months. Simple ibuprofen will usually suffice for treatment. I suppose the massage is just to give you something to do.

Followuo: If pain keeps returning, it is possible it is still costichondritis; but it may also be something different. I would make followuo appointment to be re-evaluated to rule out other potential causes of chest pain in that area. Further testing may need to be done.
