A member asked:

Can a surgical abortion cause an arcuate or subseptate uterus? or can these conditions cause issues for an abortion procedure and recovery?

No: No, a sub-septate uterus is not caused by abortion procedures. However, a full intrauterine septum can be a problem at surgical abortion if the "wrong side" not containing the pregnancy is evacuated erroneously.-

Birth anomaly: The uterus forms during fetal development from 2 side by side tubular structures that join to form one. The final product we hope has a single central cavity with walls that bow out, not in (arcuate). The joining of the 2 parts can result in a septum (partition) running down the middle that can be short or long. The defect was present at birth & just makes procedures more complex.
