First step: A great first step is to recognize it, if possible. Psychiatric treatment may also resolve or at least ameliorate this issue (and this is very common! ).

Tx: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is often the most effective approach to treating hypochondria. Psychoeducation and exposure therapy have been used as well as treatment with antidepressant medications when warranted.
