Cycles: metformin has been associated with regular ovulation and weight loss in pcos patients. Based on your history, I would look for other reasons for a failed IUI if your cycles and ovulations are normal.

Not yet!: Are your lipids ok? Does diabetes run in your family? Do you put weight on the middle! All including ease the likely hood of PCOS! Finally get a pelvic ultrasound. You can see ovarian cysts!

It is reasonable: If your RE is like all of the ones I know than you have had a thorough evaluation but apparently no definite abnormality and no clear reason for the failed IUI's. PCOS is often associated with insulin resistance, which has cascading effects and which metformin addresses. It might help, is quite safe, and is worth trying.
