Will a moderate popliteus muscle tear heal on its own? the mri said that its not a full thickness tear but the tear is pretty significant.

The popliteal muscle: is an "accessory" muscle...that is it "shares" function (in this case FLEXION or BENDING the leg at the knee).. a tear of the muscle will not heal on its own...however it should be fixed (surgery) only if it is PAINFUL or results in NEEDED strength in the leg! (Jumping for example) Hope this is helpful! Dr Z
