A member asked:

I have had green nasal mucus for 2 years and have tried multiple antibiotics without resolve. could a borderline low neutrophil count be contributing?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Why all the meds?: Mucus will color over time due to the normal metabolic action of common germs that feed on nasal mucus. It does not always mean you have a true sinus infection that needs treatment. It might if accompanied by face pain, but the common runny nose should not be treated. Evaluation by an ENT & review of past treatments can decide if this or other work is needed.
