Muscle pain: What you described suggest muscular pain. You may take acetaminophen, no more than 4 grams in one day, no alcohol. Exercise will help though that may take upto 3 months for full effect. Raising core body temperature through exercise will help the muscles relax. Any exercise will do, it does not have to involve the neck directly.
Wish you good health!
