Malignant lymph node: Usually, a malignant lymph node is firm, fixed with somewhat poorly defined borders and larger than 1.5 cm in size. Benign lymph nodes tend to be smaller, well circumscribed, softer, and mobile. As with anything, there are exceptions and you should be evaluated if there is a particular concern.
