Pyridium: Generally it is ok at low doses, short treatment duration, and commonly prescribed. There are no large clinical trials (for ethical reasons) that have tested safety in pregnancy but pyridium, or phenazopyridine has a pregnancy safety category of B. Meaning we only have animal studies, that suggest doses up to 50 mg/kg/day have revealed no evidence of harm to the fetus.
