My 18 month old son, has terrible ezcema. his skin is dry and patchy. i apply lotion(epimax) all the time. he scratches so much. it's heartbreaking.

Might be eczema: His doctor can check to see if the rash is typical eczema or something else. Eczema is helped by increasing skin moisture using creams such as CeraVe or Cetaphil. Hydrocortisone cream is over-the-counter and can be used twice a day for a week while waiting for the doctor appointment. For "terrible" eczema, prescription "cortisone" and some skin antibiotics are usually needed. Patients avoid soap.
