See below: There are reports indicating that antioxidant glutathione may help with chronic fatty liver. Talk to your doctor to be sure. It may be more important to treat the underlying causes such as alcohol, obesity, high fat diet, hyperlipidemia, diabetes, hypertension, toxic medications, etc.

Can be really fast: A few days of sobriety can clear up the liver if it's due to a wild alcohol party holiday. When it's due to lack of exercise, a few weeks can effect a striking improvement. Finding fatty liver is often a life-saving wake-up call. Be proactive. Best wishes.

Abnormal LFTs: there's NAFLD (nonalcoholic fatty liver disease) which is just fat in the liver, and more of it than usual - and NASH (nonalcoholic steatohepatitis) which is when that fat gets inflamed. the latter if not controlled, can lead to cirrhosis over time. Signs are typically elevated ALT (more so than AST) and increased echogenicity on ultrasounds. often associated with 'metabolic syndrome'.

Weight loss: Fatty liver is usually diagnosed with an ultrasound showing fat deposits in the liver. Usually liver enzymes are elevated (ALT and AST). Most people with fatty liver are overweight, so weight loss is the curative treatment. Diet and exercise is crucial in achieving substantial weight loss. Avoid supplements that causes weight loss (as can be harmful). Overall this is a benign condition.
