Meds: Beta receptors are on your heart and blood vessels. Beta receptors respond to endogenous epinephrine and norepinephine This causes increase in HR and strength of contraction and constriction of blood vessels thus increasing BP. Beta blockers block this. Alpha blockers block release of catecholamines by acting on alpha receptors in the central nervous system.
