Atenolol: This is an old, generally well tolerated medication. There are some occasional side effects. If you are not comfortable with what you read about this medication, depending upon your overall health issues, you may be able to take an alternative such as a calcium channel blocker.

Anxiety: It sounds like you have anxiety disorder. The beta blocker would be advantageous for this condition. Atneolol is usually extremely benign and i would have no concern about it.
