A member asked:

7 yr old boy diagnosed with unilateral choanal atresia on the left. child had adenoidectomy when he was 2. should the choanal atresia been dx then?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Hard to say: I suppose the relevant issue is did they ever need to look for it ? In a kid whose nasal breathing seems normal at 2, when the structures are small, could you find it within the overgrowth of the adenoidal tissue being removed, or the bloody field remaining after removal? Hire your lawyers & consultants if you choose. That's if any would take the case. Stuff like this happens.
