A member asked:

My 13 year old sister gets a sore throat every two weeks when we take her to the gp he always treats her with antibiotics for a flu her throat swells?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Odd treatment : If the doc confirms strep A (the only reason for antibiotics) with an office quick test this might be valid treatment. If not, the overuse of antibiotics is worrisome. If it is true strep A every time there may be a carrier in the family which can be confirmed by testing every family member. From the little information posted, the GP just seams lazy.
