Epidural injection: This is called an epidural injection. There are different types but the all share the same principles. Image guidance is used to place a fine needle into the epidural space. Numbing medications and steroids are then injected to provide pain relief by decreasing the inflammation of the nerves. The procedure is safe but it is not risk free.
