A member asked:

I am vegan and do not take supplements. what could it mean if my vit b12 and folate are high in blood tests?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Depends: on how long you've been vegan. Folate is easily obtained from plants. The body stores about 2-3 years worth of B-12 (cyanocobalmin), so if you've only recently gone vegan, you probably still have adequate body stores. That being said, many vegans consider a weekly 1,000 mcg supplement a good idea. Hope this helps!
