Antidepressants: Both medications are classified as antidepressants. This is a common medication combination. To reach a high enough dose for Trazodone to be used to treat major depression or an anxiety disorder- there would usually be many side effects. As a result- it is primarily used for sleep (with smaller doses) at this time. The citalopram would be used to treat the psychiatric condition.
