If you have cough variant asthma and the asthma flares up what is the best thing to do after you used your inhaler to keep from going to the er?

Modify your plan: I would not consider you "cough variant" asthma if you have ever needed an ER visit for treatment. Asthma is a variable condition from very mild (cough variant) to very intense life altering. An asthma action plan based on a good understanding of your asthma, monitoring with a peak flow meter or symptom chart, and pre-planned written guide of when to increase meds/go in is needed.
