A member asked:

Im 6 weeks pregnant and my sister just found out she has shingles. i had chicken pox when i was 12. is it safe for me to be around her?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes: Your past case of wild chickenpox makes you (& your pregnancy) immune. Shingles is not passed from chance exposure to droplets (cough) or her saliva, just the debris from any sores. Routine hand washing and avoidance of sore debris can prevent anyone from developing chickenpox by being around her.
