A member asked:

Is it safe to travel or be in contact with a child who has been diagnosed with chicken pox while pregnant?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Depends: If the pregnant person has had chickenpox in the past or been vaccinated they would be considered immune. Travel or contact with a case would be fine. If not, any adult in contact with CP could become very sick (deadly) although there are meds that can reduce the intensity of the infection. The fetus would not be at particular risk unless the infection arose near the time of delivery.
