Varies: Physical therapy is a well accepted treatment for various conditions causing hip and buttock pain; but sometimes therapy can unintentionally make the symptoms worse. Two most common causes are a lumbar radiculopathy (irritation of nerve in the back) and a tendinitis/bursitis on the out side of the hip (ITB syndrome).
