Doctor can evaluate: Normal people don't have excruciating pain, so having such symptoms means a trip to the doctor would be the usual recommendation. Even having such symptoms for 20 minutes usually mean a phone call to the doctor is needed. Of course, details matter a great deal, such as WHERE the pain is, how it starts, where it radiates or travels to, how long the pain lasts, etc...
