A member asked:

Lateral hip pain. xrays show nothing. dr pushed, pain. injected lidocaine as diagnostic. pain worse. what was diagnosed? set for pt soon. what's next?

See details: There are two major causes of lateral hip pain. One is a trochanteric bursitis and the other is referred pain from the lower back. Injection lidocaine alone is not the answer. One can try injection with a combination of lidocaine and a corticosteroid. This may may a bursitis not not if the pain is from the lower back. See an orthopedist or rheumatologist.
