See doctor : An ear infection may occur as a result of having a cold or an injury to the ear. Symptoms of an ear infection are ear pain or pressure, and it will usually interfere with daily activities like sleeping. If you have these symptoms, talk with your doctor to confirm if you have an infection; he or she may prescribe you an antibiotic if determined appropriate.

Ear infection: Classic symptoms: ear pain or ear fullness, decreased or muffled hearing in one ear, drainage from ear canal, or exquisite tenderness of the ear to touch or tugging the ear. Ear infections are either middle ear (nontender to pulling) or external ear (very tender to pulling).
