Amniocentesis: Amniocentesis is usually indicated at "4 months of pregnancy" and 28 years of age only if an ultrasound, family history or other test suggests the possibility of an abnormality. Amniocentesis is quick, usually painless, and provides accurate information if done with ultrasound assistance to avoid the needle hitting the fetus. Knowing the outcome is less stressful for your pregnancy.
