Negligable: While tetanus spores can exist almost anywhere they are not common contaminants of the face. It is unrelated to the rust but possible when you create any wound in the skin that would allow the spores a way in. If it has been more than 5-10 years since your last tetanus booster the event is a reminder to consider getting one at your convenience.
