good day my daughter twisted her foot and it is badly sprained. i did have her at casualty and they took xrays but didn't see a break, however i am very concerned with the bump on the side of her foot. could it be torn ligaments or displaced ligament?

Sprain=torn: You don't see torn ligaments on an x-ray but a sprain by definition includes some disruption of the supportive ligaments. In young kids, the ligaments are stronger than their attachment & x-rays may show a chip fracture. As they get older , sprains are more common. The degree of strain & proper treatment are based on physical exam.
