A member asked:

Sharp persistent pain in lower left abdomen?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Many possibilities: If it is not constipation (collection of stool in the left lower abdomen) that goes away with a bowel movement, then his primary care doctor can check to see what the problem might be. The doctor can check to see if there is a mass of some kind in the abdomen or pelvis. Sometimes an infection, diverticulitis, an unusually-located appendicitis, or some sort of tumor, can cause such symptoms.
