A member asked:

Can a person who is a silent carrier of alpha thalassaemia, marry someone with a thalassaemia trait?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Missing data: The risk to any offspring will depend on their genetic profile. You didn't detail whether the thal trait person is a alpha or beta trait. Silent carrier status is what we call a person with trait. If parents both have alpha thal trait (carrier) the statistical risk=50% carriers, 25% full blown alpha thal, 25% normal. But conceptions don't respect statistics, all offspring could have full blown thal
