I have trait for alpha thalassemia. my iron is high a lot; are there any other elements, minerals, or compounds i should watch out for?

No: People with thalassemia tend to absorb extra iron from their diet and the body tries to find ways to make more blood. Sometimes, Folic Acid may be low in people with chronic anemias. There shouldn't be anything else effected.
