A member asked:

I recently donated blood and immediately after, developed flu symptoms. i have never felt this way before. i also did an hiv test the next day which tested negative but when looking at the symptoms for flu and hiv there are similarities. ?

Stop worrying: Systemic viral infections have a lot of overlap. Folks who seroconvert with HIV typically say, "That was the worst case of the 'flu that I ever had." Even if you met the HIV virus from donating blood (and it would be criminal, anywhere in the world, for this to happen), you won't have the acute symptoms for around 21 days. Thanks for the donation of blood, it's a good thing to do.
