Yes: This has to do with the long term consequences of abnormal glucose levels. They will raise your bad lipids & put you at higher risk of coronary artery disease earlier than the normal population but it does still take years. The same goes for destruction of your kidneys & eyesight if you don't manage your diabetes well. I wouldn't worry about a heart attack at 25-26.
