Low carb and salt: Your 72 yr old woman likely is overweight and has the metabolic syndrome, which causes insulin resistance, hypertension, type 2 diabetes, kidney and heart disease. A strict low carb diet plus exercise is the best way to address this. Low salt intake also indicated. She is likely on many meds and should be seen by specialist who can help guide her back to good health, and reduce pill burden.

Balanced.: There is not particular diet that one might prescribe or recommend. However, with that constellation of medical problems, the diet should be low in salt (sodium content on food labels), low in cholesterol, and low in sugars/carbs. Iron intake (green leafy vegetables) or iron supplements may help with anemia, if it is due to iron deficiency.
