Mirena: As with all progesterone only contraceptives abnormal bleeding is a major side effect. This could be bleeding every day, no bleeding at all, or anything in between. A check for placement would also be a good idea as sometimes improper placement could also result in bleeding.

Mirena Check : Irregular bleeding is a common side effect in the first few weeks after an IUD insertion. With Mirena it typically resolved in 3-6 weeks. I always like to do an IUD check visit about 4 weeks after insertion to make sure all is ok. Consider scheduling a follow up with your Obgyn for an exam
