A member asked:

Can a scratch from a domesticated outdoor cat thats had its rabies shot give rabies if the scratch breaks skin?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

NO: The cat with an up to date rabies vaccination in the past can not act as a carrier for rabies. It can open the skin to tetanus spores or other bacteria. Good wound management & monitoring can avoid a worrisome infection.
