Many causes: Coccydynia is pain in or around the area of the coccyx, also called the tailbone. You have described the classic symptom. See your doctor for an inspection/palpation of this area to detect any abnormal masses or abscesses (infections). Anti-inflammatory medications, a doughnut cushion to take stress of it usually helps. Manipulation can help sometimes as well, surgery is rarely necessary.

Coccygodynia: Coccydynia meaning pain in the coccyx or tailbone area, . Most of the time this is due to some type of trauma to the tailbone. This can be due to poor sitting posture, pregnancy delivery but often the cause is not known. Therapy include nsaids, injections and even surgery in some that do not respond.

See below: Sounds like you have coccydynia or "tailbone pain" this can occur with trauma to the tail bone, abnormally positioned coccyx, or poor sitting posture. Try using a good lumbar support to help shift your pelvis forward. This will put the pressure on your ischium. (bottom part of pelvic bone), and will shift the weight off of your coccyx (tailbone).
