A member asked:

Hi doctors. can having a hysterectomy increase risk of arthritis and bone disease? is this a myth or the truth?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Myth and True: It is a myth that a hysterectomy itself causes arthritis, but it is true that if the ovaries are removed at that surgery without replacing the estrogen, osteoporosis (bone disease) can result.
