A member asked:

Can having one autoimmune disorder make you more likely to get another autoimmune disease?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Very complex: Autoimmune disorders may cluster with other co-morbid diseases, but the initial autoimmune process does not cause the second. This in part, has to do with genetic susceptibility, sort of how we are individually wired, and that determines what ultimate disease process might attack us. If you do indeed have two autoimmune disorders, find an expert, as meds for one, might make the other far worse.
