Gastroenterologist: If you are unable to swallow & feel as though food is getting stuck,need to get tests to rule out any lesion How long is this problem? see a doctor/gastroenterologist.

Sip water/milk: If you can take a few sips of water or milk without any swallowing pain & you don't bring it up as a vomit, there is no food stuck. If you can't pass some liquid, you need to go to the ER where someone can examine your swallow tube.
