I have 3 swollen lymph nodes in my left groin for 5 days as well as strain in hip/ groin from 6 mile walk 3 days ago. also have 3 insect bites on same leg within last week.

Common: Those lymph nodes screen out the serum contributed by events from that leg or nearby skin. Bug bites could easily increase their size from resting to enlarged. The cycle lasts about 3-4 wks before they shrink back. If they develop nearby redness or continue to swell they may have true infection & need treatment. The strain would have nothing to do with it.
